When I think of my series I’m not sure what sounds come to mind. My series is very personal and close to home. Since the matter of my is serious but also playful I don’t think the sound track should be to dramatic. Fifteen sounds that might compliment my series might be…. faint crying (very faint), a large crowd of people talking, the wind, breathing, running, heart beat, laughter, a mans’ voice, typing, tape water running, and maybe a pen on paper. Once I think about these sounds they all seem organic or natural; nothing too commercial. They all seem to be sounds that one might encounter during a normal day. I definitely want for the sounds/ track that I make toe harmonious and layered.

On Line Response

In the reading “On Line,” by Peter Halley, the author reveals the significance of lines in our world today. The author enlightens his readers of the role of lines in our society, ” there is a feeling of unity with formal power of the linear.” ( halley ) He speaks of how 1860- 1920 marked the birth of the linear universe. Everything can be related to lines from technology to the roads that we drive on. The linear can even be translated into language!

The reading of “On Line”, has enabled me to view the world surrounding me differently. Halley has redefined a line and i will no longer view lines the same. Even though i found it hard to follow the reading at time the reading made many strong points. One statement that really created an impact in my understanding of the linear is when Halley refers to a staring wheel as a ” cool plastic of linear made circular,” (-230 Halley) I have always viewed a circle as a circle but never have i stopped to relieve that a circle is simply a curved line! This reading really opened my eyes seeing objects differently. All in all i enjoyed reading the reading on lines by Peter Halley, it has truly impacted the way i view my surrounding, it allowed me to understand that ever object can be broken down into a simple shape or line.

While i was drawing the scholar rock I found my self flushed with different emotions. Drawing the scholar rocks was a very pleasurable experience. After a few hours of drawing I did find myself losing interest but for the most part it was a pleasurable experience. It amazed me how every rock was unique, it is almost as though each rock had it’s own personality. Each corm of the rock was filled with a new and exciting texture and feel. As an artist I think drawing these rocks made begin to consider

Final Project Proposal

While reading “Bones of the Master” I was inspired. I was inspired to create a piece that embodied the beauty of a tea bag. When I think about tea, I think of a warm and calm environment. Tea has a tendency to cause reflection and peace in ones body mind and soul. This book oddly enough has changed the way I view tea. To me tea is symbol of peace and sanity. To explain a tea bag is constructed of two main things, the bag and the tea. The bags main purpose is to filter the tea and to keep everything together. The tea it’s self is purposed to calm and sooth, to comfort. One can compare the tea bag to the brain and the tea to ones thoughts. The focus of my final project is to communicate the idea that our minds are like tea bags. The mind houses and filters all of our thoughts and emotions.

I want take a personal look onto this project. I want to tie the book into my life and connect similarities between George and I. Similar to Goerge in the I have difficulty find a place in my mind that is clear, and peaceful. My mind at times feels as though it is over loaded with thoughts, concerns and mostly insecurities. I want this project to display the confusion that I experience at times. The viewer should feel over whelmed and shocked, because these are emotions that I hide and they never knew of.

While reading the story I took notice of the fact that tea was often mentioned in the story. In the story tea seemed to be a symbol of peace and opening of the mind. It caught my attention and which is why I choose it as my item! I found photographing the tea bag very interesting. I decided to create an atmosphere for the tea bag, I wanted the viewer to want to know more about the tea bag. I approached the drawings differently. I wanted my drawing to be portrait like. The drawings where very raw and experimental.

When I first approached this project I had no idea what to do. I was unsure how to represent the transfiguration of my object. After a while of thinking and observing my object i realized that their was a lot i could do. I want to express a theme of mu reality verse actuality; what i think i see verses what is actually in front of me. When we experience ones art work we are taking a peek into what they see, sometimes we forget that the person could have changed what is before us. Artist do not always have to tell the truth about what they see. In this project I wanted to tell to two stories which is why i decided to incorporate the actual object amongst my interpretations of the object.

minimalism

This project was very interesting, at first I out way to much thought into it! I was puzzled how hard it was to be simple. The first few projects where definitely the hardest to figure out but after awhile I got the hang of it. I didn’t really have a theme for my series I just looked for photos or themes I found interesting. I honestly found it how surprising how hard it was to convey a message with little words and imagery.

Tenzin Yignyen

Last week I had the opportunity to experience the construct of a mandala sand painting. To my surprise it was truly a enlightening experience. Prior to this assignment I had no knowledge of the mandala or of Tibetan monks at that, but all that has changed. I was able to visit the gallery twice, my first encounter with Tenzin was an introduction to the Tibetan culture and Tenzin himself. I found myself observing a lot! I felt scared to move because I didn’t want to trip or breath to hard cause there would be a chance of ruining his hard work. I was surprised by his work, I wasn’t expecting to see a sand painting. In all of my observation i noticed how calm Tenzin was and even the room had this whole vibe of piece and passion.

My second encounter with Tenzin was much more personal. I had the chance to hear him speak and I was also able to see the development of his art work. Watching him work was beautiful, all I could think about was the amount of patients and dedication it would require to complete such a task. Hearing Tenzin speak was whole other experience in it’s self, he was very inspirational. Tenzin helped me appreciate the people around me and inspired me to be more patient and loving. His stories brought joy to me and I realized that my purpose is to bring joy into this world wither it be through my art work or by helping a lost person find their way through an unfamiliar city. In all honesty I am so glade that I took part in this assignment because it reminded me of who I am and what I love.

“Portrait of Time”
If I where to make a portrait of time it would be a piece that reflects the past, present, and future. Two concepts that I would definitely want to capture in this portrait is that time is endless and nothing is ever new under the sun. I would choose a subject and show how time has effected it.
There are three main colors and color schemes that come into mind when i think of time. The first colors that comes to mind represent the past, these color would consist of neutral and eat tone colors such as brown, or green. The second color concept or scheme that I would define time with are tertiary colors to represent the present. I would use territory colors because the present is familiar to us and I feel as though the tertiary color scheme is also very much relatable to us. Finally I would use a gray or monochromatic color scheme to represent the future, because the future is untold and uncertain.
